Sons of Anarchy

Each year I pick 1-2 series to watch. This year Sons of Anarchy has topped my list. This fall I was having a hard time finding any series worth watching, when I saw the commercial for this series I couldn't resist. I'm a motorcycle enthusiast, so any motorcycle series entices me but add a few bad ass Harley's and you got me hooked.

So here's the series to replace the Sopranos.

The series started out a little rough. I can't say I wasn't disappointed after the first episode. It wasn't that they hadn't packed a fast paced episode, I just didn't care.

Well I'm not one to give up after one episode, so I gave it one more week.

To my surprise the next episode kicked it up a notch, and added a lot more character personality.

When the third episode aired I was ready, to my delight this episode made the second episode look dull.

Now I'm an addict, I need my weekly fix.

So what's the plot?

It's simple take a California Motorcycle gang, add two or three more, then add a conflicted main character and what have you got? A recipe for disaster. A collusion course with hell.

What else do you need? It's kind of hard to lose with this as your baseline.

The Sons of Anarchy started in Charming, California a short time after Vietnam. The leader of the motorcycle club built the club based on freedom. This quickly evolved into more then just being free, and soon shifted to gun running. The leader of the gang died some time back in a motorcycle accident. His son is now second in charge and his wife is now married to the new leader of the club.

Jaxs seem to be the main character. The story seems to be primarily tailored around his character. Jaxs has recently found what you can only call his fathers personal diary. This book describes many of his beliefs which fall far from the direction the gang has gone today. Jaxs is conflicted by the knowledge that his father never intended the gang to become the ruthless motorcycle club it is today. He shows the same principals as his father, which quickly starts to concern many of the other club members.

The gang has a nearby rival, the Mayans. The Mayans start the first episode by torching the Sons of Anarchy gun depot. Mayans are based some where in Nevada and seem to have a large presence in the local area.

Originally nine member started the Sons of Anarchy but today only 3 clubs members remain.

The sons of Anarchy have a set of jacket patches which symbolize club importance. A recruit is called a prospect and can not where the full patch set and must wear a recruit patch when wearing the SOA patch. The original nine have a special patch and a few other patches exist.

The bikes are Dynas, and they rock, custom paint jobs are hard to see in the series so make sure you pause the series a couple times and take a good look at the details.
